Everyone tends to think of construction when thinking about volunteer opportunities with Habitat. But, there are so many other ways you can get involved. Volunteering with Habitat is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills or put your expertise to work helping others.
For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact our volunteer coordinator Janet Hunter at 843.681.5864 or via email at email@example.com.
Would you like to work directly with Habitat partner families? If so, Family Services is the place for you.
Family Selection Team volunteers help perform home visits (in pairs) to applicant families in order to assess their eligibility for the Habitat program. These volunteers then report their findings back to the full committee.
Family Support Partners are assigned to a Habitat partner family to help them through the process after they have been accepted into our program. Support Partners keep in close contact, monitoring progress on sweat equity and working with the family and Habitat to resolve conflicts that may arise. They also report any changes in family status, such as addresses, employment, family size, etc., and attend educational workshops.
Volunteers can help with our fundraising efforts by hosting small group social/fundraising events or helping coordinate house sponsorship efforts like Women Build, Apostles Build, Stud Sponsors, etc.
Volunteers are occasionally needed to help with planning, setting up, running and wrapping up special events/fund raisers.
Our Habitat ReStore is always looking for volunteers. Duties range from stocking shelves, assisting customers and answering phones to testing appliances. Learn more about volunteering with the ReStore.
