We are so grateful for the amazing support we receive from our donors and volunteers. Work at The Glen is progressing quickly. We can’t thank the Town of Hilton Head enough for the donation of land that allowed for this community and our thanks to the many supporters who provided funding for infrastructure and site preparation. Special thanks go to Goldie and Helen Glenn and to the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. And, we couldn’t build houses without our generous House Sponsors.
Ten local churches have come together to sponsor our first Apostles Build. The walls were raised on April 20.
Work is progressing on the house sponsored by First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head.
Our eleventh house at The Glen is the Faith House. Three churches, Holy Family, St. Andrew by-the-Sea and St. Francis by the Sea, have come together to raise the funds and raise the walls on this home for the Fioritti Family.
On December 15, we raised the walls for our sixth Women Build. Many thanks to those who supported this build, including ZONTA, the Women’s Association of Hilton Head Island (WAHHI), Long Cove Club Charitable Advisory Committee and our primary sponsor, Women in Philanthropy, a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. The house was dedicated in May for the Smith Family.
100 Houses! In February 2017 we dedicated our 100th House for Ana Johnson and her family. This house was sponsored by our current homeowners and with proceeds from the ReStore.
In November, we dedicated The Saints House, sponsored by All Saints Episcopal Church for Yolanda Vega Oliverez and her family.
In March, we kicked off construction of a home to be sponsored by Tommy Arnold and his family for Librado and Alicia Vega.
An anonymous donor provided funding to build the next house (still under construction) for Jennifer Fields and her family in memory of Noah Solochek. Noah was the grandson of long-time volunteer Dr. Sheldon Solochek and Hilton Head was one of his favorite places to visit.
For the fifth house, once again, the unstoppable team at Colleton River raised the funds and built their second house at The Glen.
House number four at The Glen was sponsored through our annual golf tournament at The Oldfield Club. We’re so grateful to all the corporate and house sponsors, auction item donors and the players who come out to support our tournament.
The Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors sponsored our third house at The Glen for Maria Vallejos and her family. They moved into the neighborhood in September.
Hilda Solis and her family moved into the second house in August, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island.
In July 2015, Jesse Ramirez and her family moved into the first house at The Glen. Thanks to the Colleton River Friends of Habitat for sponsoring this build.
