Founded in 1990, Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity is part of a global non-profit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.
Our first house was completed on Hilton Head Island in early 1993. Communities in Bluffton and Ridgeland followed. In the summer of 2016, we we are getting ready to start construction on our 100th house.
New Hope Village, Bluffton—Between 1997 and 1999, we built 12 houses for families in Bluffton.
New Ridge, Ridgeland – In 2009, we built a small community of 4 homes in Ridgeland. This land was generously donated by Bees Creek Plantation developers, Jennifer and Tony Kunich.
Brendan Woods, Bluffton—Between 2000 and 2012, 62 houses were built in a community located just off of May River Road in Bluffton.
Promise Way, Ridgeland—A beautiful community of 10 houses was built on a cul-de-sac in downtown Ridgeland between 2009 and 2011.
The Glen, Hilton Head Island—Currently, we are building 16 homes in Phase One of The Glen community. Once infrastructure is in place, an additional 16-20 homes will be built in Phase Two. This land was generously donated to Habitat by the Town of Hilton Head.
In 2002, we opened the Habitat ReStore in Bluffton. The store not only helps us serve more families but provides a great resource in the community. Tons of still usable cabinets, appliances, electronics, building materials and household goods and furniture are available for sale at discount prices and kept out of our local landfills.
Since 1990, Hilton Head Regional Habitat for Humanity has participated in Habitat for Humanity International’s tithe program which has allowed us to serve 72 families in other parts of the world with decent, affordable housing.
Our success over the last 25 years is a result of partnership with local churches, businesses, agencies, government, foundations, service clubs, neighborhoods and individual donors and volunteers who make an investment in the families and communities we serve.
